Income Qualified Services

Is your income level a financial barrier to a more energy efficient home?

Through an initiative of the State of Minnesota, GMG provides our Home Energy Services programs free of charge to income qualified residents.

Home Energy Audit

Program participation starts with an energy audit to assess efficiency of insulation and heating equipment in the home. During the audit, a Building Performance Institute (BPI) trained auditor will install energy-saving measures where needed, including:

  • Programmable thermostat
  • Low flow showerheads and
  • Faucet aerators
  • Door weather stripping.

In addition, auditors will reprogram existing thermostats and lower thermostat settings on water heaters that are set above 120 degrees.

After the audit, you will receive a detailed report of the auditors finding and an energy efficiency rating of your home. If the report finds that you would benefit from insulation, health and safety measures, or heating equipment replacement we will arrange to have the work completed. The program is free to customers who report that they meet the requirements for the income qualified program.

Income Qualified System Tune-Up Program

Maintaining your furnace or boiler is essential for prolonging the life of the appliance, and ensuring it runs efficiently. We know having this service done can be costly and a financial burden.

GMG will pay for the full cost of cleaning and tune-up on qualified residential customers’ heating systems. Customers may submit contractor invoice for payment by GMG, along with proof of income, or may submit proof of payment with a copy of the invoice for reimbursement.
